I started this journey initially by creating a blog with the help of my cousin. I really wanted to be able to share my perspective and strategies with parents and children on a broader scale than my position as a paraeducator was allowing me to. Helping parents and children recognize the correlation between accountability (personal responsibility) and their own happiness and well-being was, and still is, incredibly exciting to me. And now, more than ever, I believe that accountability is also necessary. Necessary for the sake of creating healthy school learning environments, and necessary for the overall good of the communities that our children are an integral part of.
Aside from raising my own two adult children with my husband, and being nana to three incredible grandchildren, I have worked for over 20 years in the public school system with children Pre-K to 12th grade. My experience with children does not come from books, formal schooling, or clinical sessions. It is the less glamorous “in the trenches” type of experiences that I have accumulated over the years. There is no degree or plaque for my wall showing any particularly noteworthy accomplishments; just lots and lots of trial and error and a track record for helping improve student behaviors and outcomes.
I have always felt the most fulfilled when I am around kids and naturally gravitate towards opportunities where a positive difference can be made with the right expectations, scaffolding, and accountability. So having the privilege to educate, coach, and support not only parents, but school individuals and teams build confidence, skills, and navigate challenging behavior, truly feels like a blessing to me!
Thank you for being here, I’d love to connect!
